Making a Wanted Poster…
On the class web page in Section 2. Wanted Poster and Magazine Covers you can finds links for the parts you need… They are also on the class CD I handed out at the last class.
Creating The “Mug’ Shot or sketch… The first step is to convert a photo to an “artists sketch”

Step 1: Make the background transparent using the “Quick Selection” tool
Now we’ll use various filters to get this…

Here is an ‘easy’ way to do this… Take a close look at the layers…

-
In Photoshop we need to use a Filter that is NOT an adjustment layer, so we first choose the menu item
Filter > Convert For Smart Filters
(this will allow us to tweak the results at a later date if we wish)
In PS Elements there is no Smart features so in PSE, just duplicate the “mug” photo and apply the following step 2.
-
Apply the Filter
Filter > Other > High Pass… Choose a setting between 1 and 5 (Experiment! Try different numbers!)
- Choose the adjustment layer “Threshold” and move the slider from the middle towards the left until you get an effect you like…
- In order to use the “move” tool to put our results on the parchment paper we need to combine the smart layer with the Adjustment layer.
- Select both layers and use the following key board shortcut pressing all the keys at once…
- Shift + Option + Command + E (Mac)
- Shift + Alt + Control + E (PC)
- Load the parchment background (it’s on the class CD I gave you.
- Add the text…

Make a ragged edge or burn the edges…
Have Fun… I’d love to see your versions of the “Wanted Poster
